|
Last Modified: 11/05/2008 I am still exhausted from Convention and am fondly looking back on the experience! I am pleased to announce our new addition of Rhinelanders to the rabbitry, they are an elegant full arched running breed with beautful calico markings. Rhinelanders are listed as number 17 on the Rare Breed Rabbit list and are categorized as "Watch" by the ALBC. Please visit their new page to learn more about them and see their photos! Our final show schedule for 2008 is posted, we hope to see you there! |
Welcome to Suburban Bunnies Rabbitry! Suburban Bunnies was founded on November 16, 2007 and is nestled just outside the Nation's Capitol in beautiful Northern Virginia.
Suburban Bunnies was enchanted by the elegant Belgian Hare, a breed listed as threatened by the American Livestock Conservancy and ranked as #9 on the Rare Rabbit Breed List. Belgian Hares are our main focus, we find them to be a truly captivating and intelligent breed of rabbit. As of October 2008, Suburban Bunnies has welcomed another rare breed to the rabbitry, the Calico of the Fancy; the Rhinelander. Also a full arch breed, and ranked as #17 on the Rare Breed Rabbit List we are excited to be starting out with these beautiful rabbits. Along with our rare Hares and Rhinelanders we maintain a very small herd of ruby-eyed white English Angoras. They are a gentle, charming breed with long, lustrous wool. We raise our Hares, Rhinelanders & Angoras for exhibition and companionship purposes. We do occasionally have animals for sale to the public.
The primary goal of Suburban Bunnies is to educate others about the significance and varied uses of the domestic rabbit and encourage others to get into the "rabbit habit!"
Suburban Bunnies is operated solely by myself; Whitney. I am fortunate to have the support of my family in all of my rabbit endeavors. I am a proud member of ARBA, the American Belgian Hare Club, The National Angora Rabbit Breeders Club, The Rhinelander Rabbit Club of America and the Blue Ridge Rabbit and Cavy Club.
Suburban Bunnies supports saving the rare and heritage breeds of the world and encourages all rabbit fanciers to take action to save these breeds from extinction. To learn more about rare breeds please visit The American Livestock Conservancy or the Yahoo Group Rare Breed Rabbits. Please consider adding one of these breeds to your Rabbitry, only together can we save these breeds from disappearing.
